Club Competitions

Club President - May PitchersThroughout the season we host a number of Club Competitions as well as some Inter-Club Battles.

A range of images from both our own Club Competitions and the Inter-Club Battles can be viewed in our Galleries section along with our recent Club Competition Results by clicking on the links to your right.

Club Competitions are designed to allow members to pitch their best images up against other members. We hold 5 General Competitions as well as 1 Annual Competition per season.

General Competitions:

  • These are divided into four categories Open Print, Open Digitally Projected, Set Subject Print and Set Subject Digitally Projected.
  • Set Subjects are decided by member vote each season and can be found within the latest news section of the website or the members handbook.
  • Members can enter 1 image per category.
  • Entries are judged by an experienced independent judge who will provide a detailed critique on each image and award positions from Commended, Highly Commended, Third, Second and First place.
  • Points are awarded for each position and the aggregate winner for each category will be calculated once all 5 general Competitions are complete.

Annual Competitions:

  • Annual Competitions are divided into a range of categories which can vary year to year. Details of the categories are published in the members handbook at the start of each season.
  • Members can enter 1 image per category.
  • Entries are judged by an experienced independent judge who will provide a detailed critique on each image and award positions from Commended, Highly Commended, Third, Second and First place.
  • Winners of the Annual Competitions are awarded with a trophy.

Inter-Club Battles:

We currently participate in four Inter-Club Battles each season. These Battles give members the chance to pitch their best images up against members from other clubs in the surrounding area. Depending on the type of Battle images can be entered from as many as four clubs. Images are judged by an experienced independent judge who awards a points score for each image (generally a score out of 20). Each clubs scores are recorded as the judge gives them and at the end of the night the winning club will be announced. Currently we do Battle with Swindon Photographic Society, Cheltenham Camera Club, Highworth Camera Club, Wantage Camera Club, Wootton Bassett Camera Club and Tetbury Camera Club.
